100% Caricalasino, a rare native grape of Piedmont which was in danger of disappearing. Patrizia Marenco discovered some old vines in the Bagnario Valley, at Strevi, and in 1990 decided to experiment. About 3000 plants of this mysterious variety were reproduced and the wine that resulted was amazing: well-structured, delicately aromatic, versatile with food pairing, and surprisingly age-worthy.
After temperature controlled fermentation it is aged barrique for 12 months.
Intense, bright straw yellow, persistent herbaceous scent and lightly aromatic. Dry, subtle and sustained flavour, it will continue to please even after cellaring. Can accompany the entire meal, and is good with white meat and savoury fish.
Uncork bottle at time of serving. Best at 8-10° C

The Carialoso vineyard is located in Strevi , about 250/300 masl, soil is white marl.
Classic Guyot training with a yield of 60 quintals per hectare. Manual harvest is the second week of Septembe.r
The name of the variety seems to derive from the use of donkeys in the past as a means to transport grapes down the steep slopes surrounding Acqui.
